Read the Nanish
Shontie February 07 update
Nanish Shontie is a community on 17 acres of property
in the country in Western Oregon. It is a place where people have
an opportunity to learn from traditional native people about the
native way of living with Mother Earth. Nanish Shontie is helping
to build a bridge between the modern world and indigenous world
so that we may work together for the healing of Mother Earth.
Nanish Shontie is sharing the teachings of the ways that were taught
to us from Mother Earth. This is being taught to those who come
in a respectful manner. Native people recognize that there are many
good paths on this Mother Earth, we willing share ours so that it
may guide people to help restore the balance of Mother earth. As
each one of us helps in restoring that balance to Mother Earth,
we will find that it will help in our own personal healing.
Nanish Shontie urgently needs your help and invites
your participation in a variety of ways. Indigenous people believe
that everyone and everything is put on Mother Earth with a purpose
and a gift. If there is any way that you feel you may be able to
help, please let us know.
Please visit our web site here to learn more about our vision and
who we are.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2007 UPDATE
HELLO TO ALL OUR FRIENDS, SUPPORTERS,
AND VOLUNTEERS…
We hope that this e-mail finds you with a light
heart and surrounded by good friends;
At Nanish Shontie , we worked really hard getting
ready for the winter that was approaching. We hauled in many loads
of downed trees that were cut up for firewood. Some people also
donated some firewood. This was used to both heat the buildings
and for different ceremonial use. Many people came and went doing
the winter time so far and many new friends and connections were
made. The weather seems to be changing from the normal pattern but
that seems to be happening everywhere. It seems that the Mother
Earth is trying to let us know how she is out of balance and needs
our help to bring her back in balance. The important thing is that
we don’t push our way on the Mother Earth.
Too often we think that we know the answers to
fix things but we don’t take the time to ask how we can help.
For a long time people with good intentions came to indigenous people
with the thinking that they were going to help them. They never
thought to ask the indigenous people if they wanted the help or
how they would like to help. These well meaning people felt superior
to the indigenous people and felt that they already knew the answers.
This approach ended up in either hurting or destroying many of the
native communities that they were trying to help.
Now we are doing the same thing to the Mother
Earth. Many people with good hearts are going out there to help
save the Mother Earth and help correct the imbalance. They are still
going out thinking they know the answer without asking the Mother
Earth what is the best way to help her in her healing. If we are
to be real caretakers of the Mother Earth, we have to learn how
to listen to her again. There are a number of ways of doing this,
we just need to seek them out and start doing them. Listen to those
who still hold this knowledge. There are many good paths to the
Mother earth and to Creation. We just need to find the one that
is right for us.
Our spiritual leader Corbin’s was diagnosed
with prostate cancer which has spread to his bones and most recently
his lungs. Due to the healing ceremonies, prayers and help of many
people, we feel that we have slowed down the progress of the disease.
We are still asking people to keep him in your prayers and any healing
energy that you could send him. We send our heart felt gratitude
to those who have been already doing this.
During the moth of February we have many activities
planned. If you want to attend any of these activities, please write

We hope that one day you will join us in sharing

know that we haven’t forgotten her, to pray for her continued
healing and well being and to give thanks for what the Mother Earth
provides for us every moment of our lives.
